SPS Congratulated 53 New Fellows and Members Who Received 2012 Awards at ICASSP 2012

The IEEE Signal Processing Society congratulated 53 SPS members who were recognized with the grade of Fellow as of 1 January 2012 and the SPS members who received the Society's prestigious awards during ICASSP 2012, which was held at the Kyoto International Conference Center in Kyoto, Japan, on March 25 – 30, 2012.

 2012 IEEE AWARDS

The following SPS members received 2012 IEEE awards during ICASSP2012's award celebration. 

The IEEE James L. Flanagan Speech and Audio Processing Award recognizes outstanding contributions to the advancement of speech and/or audio signal processing. The 2012 co-recipients were James Baker, Carnegie Mellon University and Janet Baker*, Saras Institute, "for fundamental contributions to the theory and practice of automatic speech recognition."

 

 

The 2012 IEEE Jack S. Kilby Signal Processing Medal was presented to G. CLIFFORD CARTER “for contributions to the fundamentals of coherence and time-delay estimation and to underwater acoustics signal processing.”

 

 

 

Chapter of the Year Award

The 2012 Chapter of the Year Award was presented to IEEE Signal Processing Society Malaysia Chapter, ‘for providing its membership with programs, activities, and services of the highest quality”.
