The IEEE Signal Processing Society (SPS) invites nominations for the position of Editor-in-Chief for the IEEE Transactions on Signal and Information Processing over Networks (TSIPN) for a 3-year term starting 1 January 2015. TSIPN is a new journal co-sponsored by the IEEE Signal Processing Society, Communications Society and Computer Society, launching in 2015, and the EIC is expected to play a major role in the start up.
The IEEE Transactions on Signal and Information Processing over Networks publishes high-quality papers that extend the classical notions of processing of signals defined over vector spaces (e.g. time and space) to processing of signals and information (data) defined over networks, potentially dynamically varying. In signal processing over networks, the topology of the network may define structural relationships in the data, or may constrain processing of the data. Topics include distributed algorithms for filtering, detection, estimation, adaptation and learning, model selection, data fusion, and diffusion or evolution of information over such networks, and applications of distributed signal processing.
The nominee must be a member in good standing of the IEEE and of one of the co-sponsoring societies. He/she must have served in an editorial capacity for an archival journal. Desirable qualities include: solid technical accomplishments, leadership, integrity and ethical standards, organizational and management skills, and a vision for moving the journal forward.
The duties include the identification of Associate Editors to serve across the scope of the journal; leading the development of editorial categories for paper submission; management of the day-to-day operations of the journal through ScholarOne Manuscripts with the assistance of the Signal Processing Society's publications staff; monitoring of quality and timeliness of publications; identification of areas that require strengthening; and working with the TSIPN Technical Liaison Committee to achieve these goals.
The Editor-in-Chief will report to the Signal Processing Vice President-Publications. He/she chairs the Editorial Board for the publication and serves on and is a voting member of the Signal Processing Society's Publications Board. The Editor-in-Chief is also a non-voting member of the journal's Technical Liaison Committee, which serves to provide input on technical directions from all sponsoring societies and to promote publication opportunities among the societies. The Editor-in-Chief is expected to participate in Signal Processing Society Publications Board meetings at ICASSP in the Spring and in the Fall at either ICIP or GlobalSIP (with limited travel support covered by IEEE SPS) and in additional teleconferences, contributing to decisions about publication policies and priorities. The terms of service will be from 1/1/2015 to 12/31/2017.
Please submit nominations to: Mari Ostendorf, SPS Vice President-Publications, via email to firstname.lastname@example.org.
Nomination Deadline: 30 September 2014
