Call for Nominations of Editors-in-Chief

The IEEE Signal Processing Society (SPS) invites nominations for the positions of Editor-in-Chief for the following journals for terms starting 1 January 2013:

The nominee must be a member in good standing of IEEE and of the IEEE Signal Processing Society. He/she must have served as an associate editor or in a management capacity for an archival journal.

The duties include the identification of associate editors to serve across the scope of the journal; management of the day-to-day operations of the journal through Manuscript Central with the assistance of the Signal Processing Society's publications staff; monitoring of quality and timeliness of publications; identification of areas that require strengthening; and working with the Society and its technical committees to achieve that goal.

The Editors-in-Chief will report to the Society's Vice President-Publications. He/she chairs the Editorial Board for the publication and serves on and is a voting member of the Society's Publications Board. The Editor-in-Chief is expected to participate in Publications Board meetings at ICASSP (with limited travel supprt covered by IEEE SPS) and in additional teleconferences, contributing to decisions about publication policies and priorities. The terms of service will be from 1/1/2013 to 12/31/2015.

Please submit nominations to Mari Ostendorf, Vice President-Publications, IEEE Signal Processing Society, via mo@ee.washington.edu. Your nomination must include a brief biography (of no more than one page). The biography should include the web address that contains the candidate’s CV (do not send complete curricula vitae with the nomination). Also include a statement of the candidate's experience as an associate editor or other publication management position. A statement of interest of up to 500 words may be included stating the nominee’s vision for the journal and special qualifications for the position.

Desirable qualities: Solid technical accomplishments, leadership, integrity and ethical standards, organizational and management skills, and eagerness to continue to move the journals forward to higher levels of accomplishment.
